Savannah, Georgia
With their second facility locating near the Port of Savannah for transloading plastic resins from rail to outbound shipping containers, Plastic Express chose this location being developed by Capital Development Partners with direct access to CSX’s Southover Yard. CivilSmith provided sub consulting services to Coleman Company to provide professional rail design services for this new rail-served facility.
CivilSmith worked closely with Coleman to develop initial track layout concepts and ultimately developed detailed track plans that were approved by CSX. CivilSmith worked closely with the design team as they worked through the site development to include a 900k+ SF warehouse on this greenfield site capable of receiving both covered hoppers and box car shipments.
CivilSmith provided construction phase services to include material inspections, responses to RFIs, construction observation visits with detailed reports, and final punch list for the completed track construction. Project highlights include: 15,000 TF of track, 10 Turnouts, 4 Crossovers, 3 At-Grade Crossings Mainline Turnout, Steel Tie Construction
